MediNow

MediNow is a university-focused emergency response application built around a simple question: what happens when a student experiences a medical emergency while they are away from campus?
Instead of requiring a student to find the right number, explain their location, and communicate the situation from scratch, MediNow provides a faster way to request assistance.
The application has two primary emergency reporting options.
The first is a one-tap emergency request designed for situations where the student may not have enough time or ability to provide a detailed report. With a single action, the application can capture the student's current location and send an emergency request to the responding team. Location data, including latitude and longitude powered by Google Maps, gives responders a precise destination to work with.
The concept also includes capturing contextual information from the student's device, such as audio surrounding the emergency, allowing the responding team to better understand what may be happening before arriving at the location. This additional context can potentially help responders prepare for the situation rather than arriving with only a location and an emergency notification.
The second option is a more detailed emergency request for situations where the student is able to provide additional information. Students can describe what happened, attach photographs or other relevant information, and submit a more complete report to the responding team.
Both emergency flows include communication with the response team through in-app chat. This allows responders to request additional information, provide instructions, clarify the student's location or situation, and maintain communication while assistance is on the way.
The overall goal of MediNow is to reduce the amount of time and information lost between an emergency occurring and a responder reaching the student. By combining location services, mobile communication, contextual information, media attachments, and emergency reporting into a single platform, MediNow was designed to give responders more useful information before they arrive and help students get assistance faster.
MediNow was developed as a university-led health-tech project using modern Android technologies. The application is currently not published on Google Play or another app store, but the project can be cloned and built locally or explored through the screenshots included in this portfolio.
